    🎨 Heritage DIY: Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol 🐘

Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity, is known as the remover of obstacles and the patron of arts and sciences. This project shows you how to make a beautiful, nature-friendly idol.

    What You'll Need

    • Air-dry clay or natural playdough
    • A small bowl of water
    • A small stick or toothpick for detailing

    Step-by-Step

    1. Start by rolling the clay into a large ball for the body (stomach) and a smaller ball for the head.
    2. Join the head to the body. You can use a drop of water to help the clay stick together.
    3. Make four small cylindrical shapes for the arms and legs. Attach them to the body.
    4. Roll a small piece of clay to form the elephant trunk and attach it to the face, curving it slightly.
    5. Create small fan-shaped ears and stick them on either side of the head.
    6. Use a toothpick to draw the eyes, tusks (one broken!), and a small crown.
    7. Let it air dry completely.

    The Indian Connection

During the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, families welcome his idol into their homes. Traditionally, these idols were made from natural river clay (Shadu Mati), which gracefully dissolves in water during the final immersion (Visarjan) ceremony, symbolizing the cycle of creation and dissolution. Making an eco-friendly idol at home helps protect our rivers and honors nature.
