🎨 Heritage DIY: The Creator’s Crown (Brahma’s Four Faces) 👑
Lord Brahma is the creator of the universe in Indian philosophy. In sculptures, he is almost always shown with four heads looking in every direction! This is because wisdom and knowledge come from everywhere. Each of his heads represents one of the four Vedas—the world's oldest books of knowledge.
What You'll Need
- A long strip of heavy paper (long enough to go around your head)
- Markers (black, red, and gold)
- Glue or tape
- Optional: Glitter or shiny beads to decorate the crown
Step-by-Step
- Measure Your Head: Wrap the paper strip around your head and mark where it overlaps. Flatten it back out on the table.
- Divide into Four: Use a ruler to divide the strip into four equal sections. These will be the "four faces" of Brahma.
- Draw the Faces: In each section, draw a face. Give them a peaceful expression with closed or half-open eyes. Traditional Brahma sculptures often show him with a beard on each face!
- Draw the Third Eye: On each forehead, draw a small vertical mark or a "Third Eye" to represent inner wisdom.
- Decorate the Top: Above each face, draw a beautiful crown pattern using your gold marker. This is where you can add glitter or beads.
- Make it a Circle: Tape the ends of the strip together to form your crown. Now you have a face looking in every direction, just like the creator!
The Indian Connection
In Indian sculpture, every part of a god’s body has a special meaning. The four heads of Brahma remind us to be aware of everything happening around us and to always keep learning. He is usually seen sitting on a sacred Lotus flower, which represents purity.
💡 Big Word: Chaturmukha (चतुर्मुख) - A Sanskrit word that means "having four faces."
⚠️ Safety Note: Be careful when using tape or glue so it doesn't get on your hair!
