Sant Namdev: The Saint Who Traveled Far 🚩
The Land & The Story: Grab your map, because we are going on a long journey with Sant Namdev! Namdev was born in Maharashtra and was a devoted follower of Lord Vitthal. But he didn't stay in just one place. He traveled all across India, from the south to the far north, to spread the message of love and devotion. He even went to Punjab and lived there for over twenty years! His teachings were so beautiful that many of his hymns are included in the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs.
Namdev taught a very simple but important lesson: God is everywhere. One famous story says that once, while he was eating, a dog ran away with his roti (bread). Instead of getting angry, Namdev ran after the dog with a bowl of ghee (clarified butter), shouting, "O Lord, please don't eat the dry bread, let me add some ghee to it!" He saw God even in a stray dog! He believed that we should never hurt anyone and that we should live together like one big family.
