Vaishakha: The Golden Harvest Month 🌾
The Land & The Story: As the sun gets a little brighter, we enter the second month, Vaishakha (April-May). This month is special because the moon is near the star Vishakha. It is the time of Vasanta (Spring) turning into early summer. For farmers in North India, this is a very happy time called Baisakhi, when they harvest their golden wheat crops. Down south in Kerala, people celebrate Vishu by looking at a tray of beautiful fruits and gold. This month also marks Buddha Purnima, the birthday of Gautama Buddha, who taught us about peace. Another important day is Akshaya Tritiya, a day believed to bring good luck and prosperity to everyone!
🌍 Conservation Corner: Farmers work very hard in Vaishakha. We can support them by eating seasonal fruits like mangoes and watermelons that grow naturally in this weather.
