Phalguna: The Month of Colors 🎨

The Land & The Story: We have reached the final month of the Indian calendar! Phalguna (February-March) is named after the Phalguni stars and marks the end of Shishir Ritu (Winter). This month is world-famous for the festival of Holi! Everyone comes together to play with colorful powders (Gulal) and water, celebrating the end of winter and the victory of good over evil (the story of Prahlad and Holika). It’s a time to forgive others and make new friends. Phalguna is also the month of Maha Shivaratri, a night of meditation and prayers. As the month ends, we prepare to start the whole cycle again with Chaitra!

🌍 Conservation Corner: For Holi, we should use "Natural Colors" made from flowers like Palash or Hibiscus. Chemical colors can be bad for our skin and for the little bugs in the soil.

🌍 Knowledge Check:

  1. What is the most famous festival of colors that happens in Phalguna?
  2. Which season is ending during this month?

Big Word: Renewal - The act of starting something again or making it feel new (just like the calendar starting over!).
