🕒 Today in Time: The Traveling Triangle 🥟
The Story: Who doesn't love a crispy, golden "Samosa?" This triangle-shaped snack is found in almost every corner of India. But did you know that the Samosa is a great traveler? It first came to India a long, long time ago from a place called Persia. Back then, it was called a "Sambosa." Today, we make it by stuffing a thin dough with spicy mashed potatoes and peas, and then frying it until it is super crunchy. When you break it open, steam comes out, and it smells wonderful! We love to eat it with sweet red tamarind chutney or spicy green mint chutney. It is the perfect snack for a rainy day with a cup of warm milk.
💡 Quick Bites:
- Fact 1: The Samosa was once a favorite snack of royal kings and emperors in India.
- Fact 2: You can find Samosas in many different sizes—from tiny "cocktail" ones to giant ones as big as a dinner plate!
- Big Word: Triangle - A shape with three straight sides and three corners, just like a Samosa!
🌟 Why it Matters: The Samosa reminds us that many of our favorite Indian foods actually came from far away and became a part of our big, happy Indian family!
