πΊοΈ Expedition: The White Salt Desert: The Great Rann of Kutch ποΈ
The Land & The Story: Did you know that India has a desert that is completely white? In the state of Gujarat, there is a vast land called the Great Rann of Kutch. For part of the year, this area is covered by the sea during the monsoon. But when the water evaporates under the hot sun, it leaves behind a thick, sparkling crust of white salt that looks just like snow! Under the full moon, the Rann of Kutch shines like silver, and itβs a sight you will never forget. This land is also famous for its 'Bhungas,' which are round mud houses with thatched roofs that stay cool in the heat and are strong enough to withstand earthquakes. Every winter, the desert comes alive with the 'Rann Utsav' festival, where people come to see colorful embroidery, hear folk music, and ride camels across the salt flats. It's also a very important place for beautiful pink flamingos, who come here to build their nests in the salty mud. The Rann of Kutch is a place where the earth and sky seem to meet in an endless white horizon!
π‘ Big Word: Evaporate - The process of a liquid turning into a gas, like when water turns into steam or disappears under the sun.
