🏔️ Pashmina: The Softest Gold of Kashmir

Fun Fact: A real Pashmina shawl is so fine and soft that it can pass through a tiny finger ring! 💍

The Story of the Weave: Our journey starts high up in the cold, snowy mountains of the Himalayas, where special goats called Changthangi goats live. To stay warm in the freezing winter, these goats grow a super soft undercoat of wool. This wool is six times thinner than a human hair! When spring arrives, the goats naturally shed this wool, and nomadic tribes, known as the Changpa, carefully collect it by hand. This precious wool is then brought down to the beautiful valley of Kashmir.

Skilled weavers spend many months, and sometimes even years, spinning this wool into delicate yarn and weaving it on handlooms. They often decorate the shawls with beautiful hand-embroidered patterns called Kani. Because it is so rare and takes so much hard work, Pashmina is often called "Soft Gold." People from all over the world travel to India just to see and feel this amazing textile.
