Shravana: The Emerald Month 🌿

The Land & The Story: Welcome to the greenest month of the year! Shravana (July-August) is the fifth month and the heart of the Varsha Ritu (Monsoon). Named after the star Shravana, this month is considered very holy. You’ll see everything turning bright emerald green as the plants drink up the rain. This is the month of Raksha Bandhan, where brothers and sisters celebrate their bond with colorful threads called Rakhi. It is also the time of Nag Panchami and Janmashtami (the birthday of Lord Krishna). In many parts of India, people fast and visit temples to pray for prosperity. The sound of rain and the sight of peacocks dancing make Shravana truly magical!

🌍 Conservation Corner: Shravana is the best time for "Afforestation" or planting trees! The rain helps the young plants grow strong without much help from us.

🌍 Knowledge Check:

  1. Which festival celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters in Shravana?
  2. Why does the land turn green during this month?

Big Word: Verdant - A fancy word for something that is bright green with healthy growing plants.
