Magha: The Month of Knowledge 📚
The Land & The Story: Brrr! We are now in the eleventh month, Magha (January-February). This month is named after the star Magha and is part of the Shishir Ritu (Winter). Even though it's cold, this month brings the beautiful festival of Vasant Panchami. On this day, everyone wears yellow clothes to celebrate the coming of spring. We pray to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music, and art. Students often place their books and musical instruments near the goddess to seek her blessings. It’s a wonderful time to start learning something new, like a new language or a new song!
🌍 Conservation Corner: In Magha, many mustard fields in North India turn bright yellow. Bees love these flowers! We can help bees by planting yellow flowers in our gardens too.
🌍 Knowledge Check:
- What color do people traditionally wear on Vasant Panchami?
- Which goddess is worshipped during this month?
Big Word: Intellect - The ability to think, learn, and understand things (what we celebrate during Magha!).
