🎨 Heritage DIY: The Dhaka Clay Bell 🔔

The Inspiration: Dhakeshwari Temple in Bangladesh is very special because the city of "Dhaka" was actually named after it! The name means "Goddess of Dhaka." Temples in the East often have beautiful metal bells that devotees ring to tell the Goddess they have arrived.

🛠️ What You'll Need:

  • An empty yogurt cup or a paper cup.
  • Air-dry clay or playdough.
  • Paint (Gold or Bronze color).
  • A piece of string and a large bead or a small bell.
  • A toothpick.

📝 Step-by-Step:

  1. Shape the Bell: Cover the outside of your cup with a thin layer of clay or playdough. Smooth it out with your fingers.
  2. Engrave Designs: Use a toothpick to draw symbols like an "Om" or a lotus on the clay while it is still soft.
  3. Poke a Hole: Carefully poke a small hole in the bottom of the cup (which will be the top of your bell).
  4. Add the Sound: Thread a string through the hole. Tie a large bead or a real small bell at the end of the string inside the cup so it can swing and make noise!
  5. Paint it Gold: Once the clay is dry, paint your bell a shiny gold or bronze color.

🇮🇳 Proud to be Indian: The Dhakeshwari temple is a Shakti Peeth, one of the most powerful spiritual places. It has survived for over 800 years, reminding us of the strong roots of our culture in the East.

💡 Big Word: Ghanta (घण्टा) - The Sanskrit word for a bell used in temples to create a pure sound.

⚠️ Safety Note: Be careful when poking the hole in the cup. Ask an adult to help you.
