🎨 Heritage DIY: The Stone Mountain: Angkor Wat Model 🏯

The Inspiration: Did you know the world's largest temple is Angkor Wat in Cambodia? It was built hundreds of years ago by Indian-inspired kings and was dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is designed like a "Temple Mountain" to represent Mount Meru, the center of the universe.

🛠️ What You'll Need:

  • Cardboard boxes of different sizes (a large one, a medium one, and a small one).
  • Empty toilet paper rolls (for the towers).
  • Grey paint or markers.
  • Glue or tape.

📝 Step-by-Step:

  1. Stack the Mountain: Tape the medium box on top of the large box, and then the small box on top of that. This creates the "stepped" look of the temple.
  2. Add the Towers: Place five toilet paper rolls on the top level (one in each corner and one in the middle). These represent the peaks of the sacred mountains.
  3. Paint the Stone: Paint the whole structure grey to make it look like it's carved from giant blocks of stone, just like the real Angkor Wat!
  4. Draw the Details: Use a marker to draw little "bas-reliefs" (carvings) of elephants, dancers, and gods on the sides of the boxes.
  5. Add the Moat: Place your temple on a piece of blue paper to represent the giant water-filled moat that surrounds Angkor Wat.

🇮🇳 Proud to be Indian: Angkor Wat shows how Indian culture, architecture, and stories like the Ramayana traveled across the seas to inspire people in other countries!

💡 Big Word: Sthapatya (स्थापत्य) - The ancient Indian science of architecture and building.

⚠️ Safety Note: Ask an adult for help if you need to cut the cardboard boxes.
