Interview: Balancing Two Worlds with Dr. Sameer Gupta
We sat down with Dr. Sameer Gupta, a renowned psychologist and NRI father of two, to discuss how parents can support their children's identity journey.
Bal Sanskriti: Dr. Gupta, what is the biggest challenge NRI parents face?
Dr. Gupta: It's the fear of 'loss.' Parents often feel that if they don't push hard enough, the culture will be lost in one generation. However, pushing too hard can create resentment. The key is integration, not imposition.
Bal Sanskriti: How do we make culture 'cool' for a 10-year-old?
Dr. Gupta: Connect it to their current interests. If they like science, talk about ancient Indian astronomy. If they like art, show them Warli or Madhubani. It needs to be relevant to their world today.
